Meltio, a disruptive laser metal deposition technology manufacturer, has brought on Dutch technology center, K3D, as the first official service bureau, and a key contributor to its application development in Europe. This agreement was made possible with the help of 3D Printer Solutions, Meltio’s official sales partner in the Benelux.

K3D is a technology center, based in the Netherlands that aims to provide accessible and affordable metal 3D printing services to a variety of industries. The center’s business model enables the widespread use of various metal additive manufacturing technologies, and also provides training and capacitation. After verifying the advantages of Meltio’s wire LMD technology, through a custom part printed on the Meltio Engine Robot Integration, K3D incorporated this innovative technology into their portfolio. By adding both the plug-and-play metal 3D printer, the Meltio M450, and the Meltio Engine integrated into a robotic arm, K3D plans to play a key role in making this technology accessible across Europe. The center will also assist in the improvement and advancement of this technology. Furthermore, K3D will support the demand for Meltio parts for a wide range of applications for industrial sectors, as well as co-create the official Meltio training and capacitation curriculums.

Meltio’s multi-metal 3D printing technology stacks weld beads, precisely, on top of one another when introduced into a laser-generated melt pool. The process uses commodity welding wire – the cleanest, safest and lowest cost metal feedstock on the market. The Meltio Engine integrates robotic and CNC equipment, seamlessly – bringing new metal additive manufacturing capabilities to a wide range of applications.

“We are thrilled to be working with K3D and 3D Printer Solutions, as this collaboration between us serves as a great indicator of how Meltio’s partner ecosystem is evolving. Together with K3D, we will be able to cater to the ever-growing interest in Meltio’s technology and its applications. As well as by leveraging K3D’s knowledge, we will be able to further develop the official Meltio training and capacitation curriculum, subsequently easing the adoption of metal additive manufacturing,” said Gerard García, Head of Sales and Marketing at Meltio.

The K3D team has extensive experience developing applications for a variety of customer-led projects across various industries. With over 6 years of metal 3D printing experience, they have facilitated the adoption of this form of manufacturing technology to a large number of clients. With the acquisition of Meltio’s technology, the Dutch technology center, and Meltio’s new service bureau, has broadened its metal additive manufacturing portfolio and facilitated its adoption, by advancement, education, and production of applications for industrial sectors.

“Over the years we have become well-acquainted with various metal 3D printing technologies, such as powder bed fusion. However, Meltio’s pioneering wire laser metal deposition process will definitely put metal AM into a new perspective as well as it will ease its adoption in the Dutch market. By acquiring the Meltio M450 metal 3D printer, we’ll be able to easily print very high-density metal parts on a compact footprint, while we’ll be able to cater to the ever-growing demand for larger and more complex metal parts using the Meltio Engine Robot Integration,” said Luuk Wissink, CEO at K3D.

3D Printer Solutions has been an exclusive distributor of Meltio’s technology in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg since 2021. The company leverages its broad experience in the industrial sector and its well-established sales network for introducing Meltio’s additive manufacturing solutions to industries seeking a competitive advantage in their production process.

“We are really pleased with the collaboration with K3D. K3D is known for its extensive experience in Metal 3D Printing, and we believe this partnership as a service provider will accelerate the adoption of the new Meltio technology in the Benelux Market,” said Ralf Verhoeven, CEO at 3D Printer Solutions.
